Ce qui caractérise le travail de ce jeune artiste est avant tout une passion pour la matière et la transparence.
Résolument non figuratives, ces compositions semblent hésiter entre peinture et sculpture, ce qui pour Nicolas Gutiérrez est une excellente manière de remettre en question le support, le médium et jusqu’à la destination de l’oeuvre.
De la toile à son ossature mise à nu, du béton aux pigments, de la couche ‘picturale’ à l’amalgame de fragments de matière, l’univers de l’artiste oscille entre légèreté et pesanteur, entre opacité et transparence, entre esthétique et questionnement sur nos modes de vie.
A travers des thématiques choisies, Nicolas Gutiérrez façonne un certain regard sur les travers de notre société, s’interroge sur les mythes qui régissent notre réalité.
